We're not the only ones who love Morgan Tookers. This ex-con turned nurse from The Mindy Project always has his friend's backs and knows how to pack a punch. He's also got some mad nursing skills that no one saw coming.
He's compassionate, calm under pressure, and he knows the quickest way to clean a wound or RICE (Rest, Ice, Compress, Elevate) an injury. In short, he's everything a nurse should be.
We want to go on record as saying that nurses who are not on TV work really hard day in and day out, taking care of patients, helping out doctors, and watching for signs of infection or complications. They spend more time with the patients than doctors and, on average, they find their jobs more rewarding as a result (depending on the patient they have to spend time with).
Nursing majors get hands-on training for what to expect at the local practice or in the hospital during their degree. It takes a lot of studying and long hours to come away with this diploma. A lot of labs and clinical exams are required, but all that training comes in handy your first day on the job as a nurse.
You'll be required to help real-life patients after all. Our advice? Just don't end up jaded and corrupt like Nurse Jackie. That stuff isn't as funny in real life.
